Compassionate, Personalized, and Holistic Psychiatry
Alicia Battles, PMHNP-BC
Co-owner of Lumina Psychiatry
Alicia is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a deep passion for integrative and patient-centered care. With over a decade of experience in psychiatric medicine, Alicia combines evidence-based treatments with a holistic approach to mental wellness—addressing the mind, body, and lifestyle factors influencing mental health.
Her journey into psychiatry began with a love of psychology and medicine, leading her to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UNH and later a nursing degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She refined her expertise through years of hands-on experience at McLean Hospital, working across acute psychiatric care, dual diagnosis inpatient, and residential treatment programs. She later obtained her master’s degree in nursing from Regis College, specializing in psychiatric mental health.
Now, as a founder of Lumina Psychiatry, Alicia is dedicated to providing personalized, trauma-informed, and holistic mental health care. She specializes in treating ADHD, anxiety disorders, PTSD/trauma, depression, and women’s mental health, helping individuals regain balance and resilience through a collaborative, whole-person approach.
Outside of work, Alicia enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, trying out local bakeries, watching TV, and being outdoors with her two sons—hiking, biking, and running. She believes in the power of movement, mindfulness, and lifestyle medicine as essential tools for mental well-being.
Thoughtful, caring and approachable psychiatry
Lauren Linsmeier, PMHNP-BC
Co-owner of Lumina Psychiatry
Lauren is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing compassionate, patient-centric care. She brings warmth, positivity, and approachability to her practice, focusing on treating the whole person and building lasting relationships with her patients.
With years of experience as a nurse, caring for patients at the bedside in psychiatric and emergency room settings, Lauren discovered her love for connecting with people through conversation, which ultimately inspired her passion for psychiatry and mental health care. She then began the journey to receive her Master’s degree in nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions.
After working as a nurse practitioner at Salem Hospital, Lauren transitioned to outpatient care, where she found fulfillment in helping patients navigate life’s challenges. This experience inspired her to co-found Lumina Psychiatry.
Specializing in ADHD (particularly in women), anxiety, depression, mild-moderate OCD, and panic disorder, Lauren values the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and takes a thoughtful approach to prescribing medication. Her care is centered on understanding the individual as a whole, allowing space in each encounter to address life’s current stressors. Originally from Wisconsin, Lauren brings a unique perspective to her practice, understanding the challenges of transitions and the impact of life changes, and she strives to support patients as they navigate these shifts in their lives.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys reading, walking, and trying new restaurants, always on the lookout for the best tiramisu. She also has a passion for traveling and exploring new places.
