Compassionate, Personalized, and Holistic Psychiatry

Alicia Battles, PMHNP-BC

Co-owner of Lumina Psychiatry

Alicia is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in psychiatric medicine. She blends evidence-based treatments with a holistic approach, addressing the mind, body, and lifestyle factors that influence mental health.

Her path in psychiatry began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UNH and a nursing degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions. Alicia honed her skills at McLean Hospital and MWH, working in acute psychiatric care, dual diagnosis inpatient, and residential programs. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Regis College, specializing in psychiatric mental health.

As the founder of Lumina Psychiatry, Alicia provides personalized, trauma-informed care, specializing in ADHD, anxiety disorders, PTSD/trauma, depression, and women’s mental health.

Outside of work, Alicia enjoys time with family and friends, cooking, exploring local bakeries, and outdoor activities with her two sons, including hiking, biking, and running. She believes movement, mindfulness, and lifestyle medicine are essential tools for mental well-being.

Thoughtful, caring and approachable psychiatry

Lauren Linsmeier, PMHNP-BC

Co-owner of Lumina Psychiatry

Lauren is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing compassionate, patient-centric care. She brings warmth, positivity, and approachability to her practice, focusing on treating the whole person and building lasting relationships with her patients.

With years of experience as a nurse, caring for patients at the bedside in psychiatric and emergency room settings, Lauren discovered her love for connecting with people through conversation, which ultimately inspired her passion for psychiatry and mental health care. She then began the journey to receive her Master’s degree in nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions.

After working as a nurse practitioner at Salem Hospital, Lauren transitioned to outpatient care, where she found fulfillment in helping patients navigate life’s challenges. This experience inspired her to co-found Lumina Psychiatry.

Specializing in ADHD (particularly in women), anxiety, depression, mild-moderate OCD, and panic disorder, Lauren values the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and takes a thoughtful approach to prescribing medication. Her care is centered on understanding the individual as a whole, allowing space in each encounter to address life’s current stressors. Originally from Wisconsin, Lauren brings a unique perspective to her practice, understanding the challenges of transitions and the impact of life changes, and she strives to support patients as they navigate these shifts in their lives.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys reading, walking, and trying new restaurants, always on the lookout for the best tiramisu. She also has a passion for traveling and exploring new places.
